Hello friends!!
How are you?? Today I’m showing you my second Literary Lacquers!! This time I’m showing you a gorgeous shade made specially with the intent to raise money for the International OCD Foundation. You know I love blogging for a cause and using this little online diary to help get the word out and hopefully help brands Literary Lacquers continue with their amazing work and solidarity! Let’s look at the pretty before we talk a bit more about this polish.
The maker describes this as “a Vivid pink-orange holographic polish with orange and copper shimmer” but I think I would call it a neon watermelon lemonade if that makes any sense! lol. This is super pretty! The formula was again amazing, super easy to work with, fast drying and no complications at all. You see three thin coats plus glossy top coat in the pics.
With flash to better show all the holo-y goodness.
This polish was designed with Debbie Wolf DeMars and is inspired by Into the Wild Nerd Yonder by Julie Halpern and here is what Debbie wrote about the polish and its inspiration:
“Imagine you have this amazing friend. She’s super smart, the kind of smart that would be intimidating if she weren’t so down to earth and nice. So instead of feeling inferior you learn from her. The kind of friend who pushes you to be a better person, and pushes you to question what you know and what you stand for. Imagine she has a wicked sense of humor. When you are together you laugh deep in your belly and your eyes tear. She’s caring and genuine and you know if you needed anything she would be there for you. Now imagine she has a teenage daughter and that daughter has all the amazing qualities of her mother. She’s spunky, smart and incredibly sweet. Sounds awesome, doesn’t it? And it is! Except that this amazing young woman, in addition to being brilliantly gifted and wickedly funny, also lives with mental illness. Her name is Sage. She is strong and brave but the road is hard and there are many bumps (hospitalizations) along the way. It is a constant fight. As their friend you feel helpless. You feel their pain so deeply it hurts but you are at a loss as to how to help. This is me and these are my friends. During one such hospital stay, amidst my feelings of helplessness, I had the idea of doing a charity polish in Sage’s honor, to raise money for OCD, one of the mental illnesses from which she suffers. “
I have to admit that this post/polish has made me take a hard look at myself… I think that the term OCD is so greatly abused in our everyday lives.. we all say we’re OCD at one point or another and never really stop to think about the people who actually suffer from this and how much it affects their lives. I did a bit of research to see what I could do as far as nail art for this baby and came up with this phrase used often to speak up against mental illness discrimination.
I re-did this mani many times because it just wasn’t good or what I thought I wanted and just when I was about to call myself OCD I realized I was just being anal and that we shouldn’t use this term so lightly because in a way we are helping spread ignorance. So, I’ve kept it like this flaws and all just to show myself that I should take things more lightly and bow from now on to try to be more conscious of my words and remember that there are people out there suffering.
If you would like this baby definitely pick it up! The shade is gorgeous, the formula is great and you will be helping raise money to help others. Is there a better combination? I think not!!
Thank you so much for reading!
